Myself during one of the Let’s Talk About TRUCE gatherings
Basketball shaped my life in more ways than I can imagine. When I first began playing basketball at 7 years old I was shy and timid, and lacked confidence in so many ways. From the time that I began playing at age 7 to when I finished playing competitively at age 23 I had coaches that saw potential in my athletic and leadership ability that I didn’t yet see in myself. In so many ways they encouraged and challenged me out of my comfort zone, physically, mentally and emotionally. I know that so much of the leader that I am today is closely connected to the countless lessons that I experienced through the game of basketball.
This month I’ve had the privilege of hosting small gatherings that I’m calling Let’s Talk About TRUCE with a few different groups where I shared more about TRUCE and how people can partner. I am so passionate and love talking about TRUCE because I believe in the mission so much and also because of the ability basketball has to change the lives of children/youth. Basketball can change the trajectory of a child’s life, it changed mine.

This summer I hosted a few workouts with a group of girls when the weather was “cooler”
DID YOU KNOW…
“Between the ages of 8 and 14, girls’ confidence levels fall by 30 percent.” (The New York Times, The Confidence Gap for Girls: 5 Tips for Parents of Tween and Teen Girls).
Research throughout the years has shown a positive correlation between girls playing sports and increased confidence. At TRUCE we are committed to providing spaces for girls to develop on the basketball court, but most importantly to develop as confident and equipped leaders on and off the court.
THANK YOU!!!
Thank you for your support in the mission and vision of TRUCE Basketball. Whether you’ve supported TRUCE with your finances, prayers, encouragement, or guidance I am forever grateful. TRUCE can’t do what it does and won’t be all that it was founded to do without the support of generous and compassionate individuals like yourself. Again, thank you!
